Open: Well young lady, have you been good to your mother?

Sunny Baudelaire has been having quite an exciting time lately. For once, "exciting" means "filled with fun" and not "filled with terror, pain, panic, and an inordinate amount of running and hiding". Without the threat of Count Olaf and his associates finding her in an attempt to steal the Baudelaire fortune, Sunny has had more time for her studies. "Her studies" is a phrase which here means, "catching up on learning how to do things most people take for granted".

She has finally learned how to walk. She thinks the amount of words she is now able to say has increased. Magnu has even taught her a few things in sign language, which she finds is a little easier than speaking. The biggest news is that she now has five very sharp teeth, as opposed to the four she started with when she arrived.

Shortly before she arrived, Mr Poe had told the Baudelaires about an aphorism: It takes a village to raise a child. She wonders if that is why she has had so much time to grow. Her days are spent rotating around between several different guardians, babysitters, and friends, and it has been lovely. She hopes her siblings are having just as good of a time in the village of V.F.D.

Unfortunately I must report that her siblings are not having just as good of a time in the village of V.F.D., nor are they even still in the village of V.F.D. Sunny does not know this. It would probably be for the best if nobody tells her.

She tries to tickle him, however her hands are quite small and not terribly coordinated yet, so whether or not she succeeds in tickling him is up in the air.

If he's being strictly accurate, it doesn't tickle all that much, but it's clear what she's attempting, so he squirms and laughs nevertheless.

[biteybaby]

"Raaaaaa!" she repeats.

[futaille]

"You win, you win!"

[biteybaby]

She rolls off, giggling.

[futaille]

He slowly sits up straight. "You are a formidable opponent, mademoiselle."

[biteybaby]

Sunny shifts to rest her head in Grantaire’s lap for a moment, then decides she wants some chocolate milk.

“Chocolate milk?” She asks him before getting up and moving to get her shoes.

[futaille]

"A young lady of taste and distinction also. Let's go get you your drink." He stands and goes to get his own shoes as well.

[biteybaby]

Sunny’s shoes velcro, so she is able to put them on by herself. They are on the wrong feet, but surely that doesn’t matter much, right?

[futaille]

Grantaire is still in the process of tying his own. "Mademoiselle, I would recommend switching those. You might find it more comfortable in the long run."

[biteybaby]

She stares at her feet, then sits back down to swap them around.

[futaille]

"Well done. I do believe the straps on them point toward the foot they should go on."

[biteybaby]

She stares at her feet again, thinking this over.

[futaille]

He finishes with his own shoes and kneels next to her, pointing out the strap direction. "You see. This way goes on that foot, this way on that one."

[biteybaby]

“Huh.”

[futaille]

"I hope that was helpful. Just between us, though, I'm not very helpful most of the time."

[biteybaby]

Sunny doesn't think that's entirely true; he has been helping her all afternoon to get up on the big inflatable things. She doesn't argue though, she simply holds out her hands to see if he will help her up off the floor.

[futaille]

That goes without saying, of course. He sweeps her up and plops her back on his shoulders.

[biteybaby]

Sunny is now wondering how many helpful things she can get Dr Aire to do, since he doesn't seem to think he is helpful. He clearly just hasn't noticed yet.

"Go go!" she says once settled atop his shoulders.

[futaille]

"Let's go!" He ducks through the doorway, mindful of her head, and takes off down the hallway at a jog.

[biteybaby]

Sunny is less outwardly-excited about this trip, but that is due more to how tired she got jumping around on the inflatable things and less to do with any actual level of enjoyment.

[futaille]

He manages to make it back to familiar territory, at least. "Where would you like to go next, mademoiselle?"

[biteybaby]

"Chocolate milk!"

[futaille]

"That is right! Forgive my poor memory!" He makes a sharp turn, making sure to keep Sunny properly secured, and zooms to the nearest kitchen.

[biteybaby]

Once they are in the kitchen, Sunny begins squirming to get down. "Help," she says, asking for help down to the floor.
